FixFolk Terms & Service Rules
At a glance: FixFolk helps you find and communicate with other users. You choose whom to work with and agree directly on the job. FixFolk does not perform or insure the work, employ providers, handle job payments, or guarantee a user or outcome. Your nonwaivable legal rights remain in place.
1. Acceptance and eligibility
These Terms govern your use of the FixFolk platform and related services.
By creating an account or affirmatively accepting these Terms, you agree to this version of the Terms and the current Privacy Policy. You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter contracts. Account creation records the version and time of your agreement.
2. Independent marketplace
FixFolk helps customers and independent service providers find and communicate with one another. You choose whom to work with and agree on the job directly. FixFolk does not perform the work, employ providers, insure their work, or handle job payments.
Customers choose whom to contact and hire. Providers choose which work to accept and are responsible for how they perform it, including their personnel, tools, methods and legally required qualifications. FixFolk is not a party to the job agreement. No user is authorized to represent or bind FixFolk. A user’s legal rights and employment status depend on applicable law and the actual relationship, not a label in these Terms.
3. Jobs, bids, hiring, and payment
The customer and provider must agree directly on the work, price, schedule, materials, access, changes, cancellations, permits, insurance, warranties and payment arrangements. Each party is responsible for the obligations the law and their agreement place on that party, including applicable safety and tax duties. Keep a written record of the agreement and any changes.
FixFolk’s job, bid, message and completion tools help organize communication. They do not replace your job agreement or decide whether work meets that agreement or applicable law. FixFolk does not currently process, hold, or escrow customer-to-contractor job payments, and it does not collect or guarantee those payments.
FixFolk's free core service is currently available to homeowners and service professionals. Homeowners can post jobs without a posting fee, and service professionals can view and respond to available work without paying per lead. Paid-plan enforcement is not currently active. FixFolk is growing market by market, so local listing volume and response times will vary.
4. Credentials, badges, and trust information
A FixFolk badge describes only the specific check printed with it. “Trade license checked” means FixFolk compared a claimed trade-license record with an available official source at a particular time. “Business registration checked” means FixFolk compared a claimed entity registration with an available official source. These checks are not identity verification, a background check, an endorsement, or a guarantee of current standing, insurance, safety, legality, workmanship, honesty, or future performance.
Users must provide accurate credential claims and promptly update expired, suspended, revoked, or changed information. FixFolk may remove a badge, request more information, or reject a claim at any time.
5. Choosing and working with another user
Before agreeing to work together, independently check the information that matters for your job, such as identity, references, relevant experience, legally required licenses, current insurance, permits, written estimates and payment terms. Ask the provider and, where appropriate, the issuing authority or insurer for confirmation. A listing, response, rating, badge or introduction does not mean FixFolk has selected, vetted or guaranteed that user or their work.
Use appropriate caution with deposits, keys, access codes, valuables, people under age 18, pets, hazardous work, and in-person meetings. This guidance does not transfer a legal duty from one party to another. Contact emergency services—not FixFolk—when there is an immediate threat.
6. User content and honest reviews
You retain ownership of content you submit. You give FixFolk a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, reproduce, format, display, and distribute that content as reasonably necessary to operate the service. This general content license does not authorize FixFolk to promote your individual job or business on social media without the separate permission described below. You represent that you have the right to submit it and that it is accurate and lawful.
Honest reviews are allowed. Nothing in these Terms prohibits a truthful review or penalizes a user merely for expressing an honest opinion. FixFolk may moderate content that is fraudulent, unrelated, threatening, discriminatory, unlawfully private, infringing, or otherwise violates these rules.
Optional social promotion: your choice
Optional promotion notice added October 21, 2026. Job and business permission are recorded separately under their versioned notices.
FixFolk can help relevant people or companies discover a service project through optional, free promotion. This does not guarantee reach, responses, work, suitability or that FixFolk will find or vet the right provider. You remain responsible for evaluating and choosing a provider. You can post jobs, create an account and use FixFolk without giving promotion permission. Accepting these Terms or the Privacy Policy is not that permission, and existing jobs and accounts are not automatically enrolled.
For each eligible job, the owner can explicitly choose promotion on the named FixFolk Facebook Page. Service pros can separately choose promotion for their own public business profile. Permission covers only the text and safe link preview reviewed: service category and city/state for a job; public business name, services and city/state for a business, with a link to the public listing or profile. Page-only permission does not include groups. A job owner may separately opt in to relevant local Facebook groups where promotional service-job posts are permitted; this choice defaults off and is recorded under its own notice, scope, revision and time. Each group’s rules and moderator requirements must independently be satisfied before posting. Other platforms and forums remain excluded. Names or contact details of job customers, personal contact details, precise street addresses, photos, logos and work images are excluded from the social post and preview. Separate image permission would be needed for any later asset-use feature.
People who follow the link can see the listing or profile content already public on FixFolk, which may include public photos and other details you supplied. This choice does not change private-photo visibility or authorize sharing private messages or documents. FixFolk records the owner, choice, scope, notice version, revision and time. You can stop future promotion from the job or business controls. Already-shared posts, previews, screenshots and copies may remain; we do not promise removal from third-party sites. This permission is separate from notification preferences and contractor outreach permissions. It does not make a pro’s services free or authorize future paid promotion. See the Privacy Policy for related data practices.
7. Prohibited conduct
- Impersonation, fraud, fake accounts, fake jobs, deceptive bids, or false credentials.
- Harassment, threats, discrimination, exploitation, spam, malware, or unlawful activity.
- Scraping, interfering with security, bypassing access controls, or misusing private information.
- Manipulating ratings, reviews, badges, referrals, or marketplace visibility.
- Submitting government ID numbers, Social Security numbers, EINs, financial-account data, or other unnecessary sensitive information in public fields.
8. Account enforcement
You are responsible for account security and activity. FixFolk may investigate reports; remove content; limit features; or restrict, suspend, or close accounts to enforce these Terms, protect users, comply with law, or address risk. FixFolk may preserve limited records when reasonably necessary for fraud prevention, disputes, security, or legal obligations.
9. Service availability and results
FixFolk is under active development. Features, listings, local coverage, messages, and account access may be interrupted, changed, or discontinued, subject to applicable law and our express commitments in these Terms and the Privacy Policy. We do not guarantee that a job will receive responses, that users will respond or agree, that a particular provider will be available or suitable, that credential information will be available for checking, or that a job will be completed successfully.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
To the extent permitted by law, FixFolk is provided “as is” and “as available,” without implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, noninfringement, accuracy, security, availability, or results. This does not cancel an express commitment we make in these Terms or the Privacy Policy. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions; any warranty or right that cannot lawfully be excluded remains in effect.
11. Responsibility and limits of liability
To the extent the law permits, FixFolk is not responsible for loss caused by another user’s work, statements, conduct or failure to meet a job agreement merely because the parties connected through the Platform. This provision does not release FixFolk from responsibility for its own conduct where the law imposes liability, or limit a right that cannot lawfully be limited.
To the extent permitted by law, FixFolk and its owners, officers, employees, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or lost profits, data, goodwill, or opportunities arising from or related to the service. To the fullest extent permitted by law, total liability for all claims will not exceed the greater of $100 or the amount you paid directly to FixFolk during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
These exclusions and the cap apply only where lawful. They do not exclude or limit liability for fraud, intentional misconduct, gross negligence, or a duty, remedy or other liability that applicable law does not allow us to exclude or limit. They do not transfer a nontransferable legal duty or take away nonwaivable consumer rights. These Terms do not require binding arbitration or waive access to a court, including an available small claims court.
12. Responsibility for third-party claims
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold FixFolk and its owners, officers, employees, and service providers harmless from third-party claims, losses, and reasonable costs, but only to the extent caused by your unlawful content, your breach of these Terms or applicable law, or your negligent or intentional wrongful conduct in connection with the service or a job agreement.
You are not required to defend, indemnify or hold a protected party harmless for loss caused by that party’s own negligence, misconduct or breach of these Terms, or for a duty or liability that the law does not allow that party to transfer. This section does not require you to give up a claim or nonwaivable right you have against FixFolk.
13. Questions, disputes and governing law
If something goes wrong, you may contact [email protected] with a description and the resolution you are seeking. We welcome the opportunity to try to resolve concerns. Contacting support or waiting for a response is not a condition of bringing a claim, does not require you to delay a filing, and does not change a filing deadline.
Subject to nonwaivable law, these Terms are governed by Kentucky law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing here removes a consumer protection or other right that applicable law requires to apply. This version adds no arbitration requirement or class-action or jury-trial waiver. Any future proposal to add one would require separate review and a clearly presented new Terms version and affirmative acceptance.
14. General terms
If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not transfer your account or these Terms without permission. These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and policies expressly incorporated here form the agreement concerning FixFolk.
15. Updates and contact
Material updates will receive a new version and may require renewed acceptance. Questions can be sent to [email protected]. See the Privacy Policy and Trust & Safety page.
