FixFolk Privacy Policy

Version 2026-09-04 · Effective September 4, 2026

FixFolk is a local-services connection marketplace for homeowners, independent service professionals, and local businesses.

Information we collect

We collect information you provide, including name, email, password hash, account role, city, county, state, ZIP code, profile and service-area details, jobs, bids, messages, reviews, reports, preferences, and other marketplace content.

Credential claims

A service professional may optionally submit a name, trade-license or business-registration number, record type, issuing authority, jurisdiction, expiration date, and official public-record link. FixFolk does not request a driver's-license number, Social Security number, EIN, government-ID image, or background-check record for this no-cost verification process. Credential information and review status may be shown publicly when a record is checked.

Location and metrics

FixFolk uses city, county, state, ZIP code, and contractor service radius for local matching and aggregate marketplace metrics. FixFolk does not require a street address or precise device location to create an account. The private owner dashboard may show aggregate account counts by role, city, county, and state to guide marketplace growth.

Account, consent, and security data

Passwords are stored as password hashes. FixFolk stores sessions, time-limited verification or recovery data, moderation records, and the Terms and Privacy Policy versions and timestamp you accepted. FixFolk does not sell an unchecked phone number as “verified,” and paid phone verification is not part of the current launch.

How information is used

We use information to operate accounts, local matching, jobs, bidding, messages, reviews, trust labels, public profiles, support, moderation, fraud prevention, service analytics, legal compliance, and product improvement.

How information is shared

Public job and contractor-profile information is shared as necessary for the marketplace. Bids, messages, and non-public account information are limited to authorized participants and operators where appropriate. Hosting, email, security, and infrastructure providers may process information for FixFolk under their service arrangements. We may disclose information when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, and service integrity.

Job photos and AI-assisted drafts

Job photos are optional. Before upload, the FixFolk web app re-encodes supported images to reduce size and remove embedded metadata, including embedded location metadata. Published job photos are stored through FixFolk's media infrastructure and are available only to authorized signed-in users who can view that job.

If you choose Create job details with AI, FixFolk sends the first selected photo and the job-description notes you provide to Cloudflare Workers AI to generate a suggested title, category, description, and follow-up questions. AI assistance is optional, limited to one use per account per day, and does not publish a job. You must review the draft and may edit or discard it. A photo used only for an unsuccessful AI draft is not stored as a published job photo.

Payments

FixFolk does not currently process or hold homeowner-to-contractor job payments.

Retention and deletion

FixFolk retains information while needed to operate the service and for legitimate security, dispute, recordkeeping, and legal purposes. Account deletion may be delayed while an active hired job remains unresolved. Some information may be deleted, de-identified, or retained when lawfully necessary.

Your choices

You may update profile and credential claims, decline optional credential submission, avoid posting sensitive information, and request account deletion through account settings. Marketing communications are intended to be optional; transactional account and marketplace notices may still be necessary.

Children, changes, and contact

FixFolk is intended for adults and is not designed for children. Material changes receive a new policy version and may require renewed acceptance. Questions can be sent to [email protected]. See also the Terms of Service and Trust & Safety page.
