FixFolk Terms & Service Rules
Important: FixFolk is an independent marketplace for introductions. FixFolk does not perform the work, employ service professionals, guarantee users, or process homeowner-to-contractor job payments.
1. Acceptance and eligibility
By creating an account or affirmatively accepting these Terms, you agree to this version of the Terms and the current Privacy Policy. You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter contracts. Account creation records the version and time of your agreement.
2. Independent marketplace
FixFolk provides technology that helps homeowners and other customers discover and communicate with independent contractors, local businesses, and handymen. FixFolk is not a contractor, employer, staffing agency, broker, insurer, agent, joint venturer, or party to an agreement between marketplace users. No user may claim to represent or bind FixFolk.
3. Jobs, bids, hiring, and payment
Users decide whether to contact, hire, or work with one another. The customer and service professional are solely responsible for scope, price, scheduling, materials, permits, licenses, insurance, access, safety, warranties, taxes, payment, disputes, and written job terms. FixFolk does not currently process, hold, or escrow customer-to-contractor job payments, and it does not collect or guarantee those payments.
FixFolk's free core service is currently available to homeowners and service professionals. Homeowners can post jobs without a posting fee, and service professionals can view and respond to available work without paying per lead. Paid-plan enforcement is not currently active. FixFolk is growing market by market, so local listing volume and response times will vary.
4. Credentials, badges, and trust information
A FixFolk badge describes only the specific check printed with it. “Trade license checked” means FixFolk compared a claimed trade-license record with an available official source at a particular time. “Business registration checked” means FixFolk compared a claimed entity registration with an available official source. These checks are not identity verification, a background check, an endorsement, or a guarantee of current standing, insurance, safety, legality, workmanship, honesty, or future performance.
Users must provide accurate credential claims and promptly update expired, suspended, revoked, or changed information. FixFolk may remove a badge, request more information, or reject a claim at any time.
5. Your responsibility to evaluate other users
Before hiring or entering a property, users should independently evaluate identity, references, licenses, insurance, permits, experience, written estimates, payment terms, and safety. Use appropriate caution with deposits, keys, access codes, valuables, children, pets, hazardous work, and in-person meetings. Contact emergency services—not FixFolk—when there is an immediate threat.
6. User content and honest reviews
You retain ownership of content you submit. You give FixFolk a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, reproduce, format, display, and distribute that content as reasonably necessary to operate and promote the service. You represent that you have the right to submit it and that it is accurate and lawful.
Honest reviews are allowed. Nothing in these Terms prohibits a truthful review or penalizes a user merely for expressing an honest opinion. FixFolk may moderate content that is fraudulent, unrelated, threatening, discriminatory, unlawfully private, infringing, or otherwise violates these rules.
7. Prohibited conduct
- Impersonation, fraud, fake accounts, fake jobs, deceptive bids, or false credentials.
- Harassment, threats, discrimination, exploitation, spam, malware, or unlawful activity.
- Scraping, interfering with security, bypassing access controls, or misusing private information.
- Manipulating ratings, reviews, badges, referrals, or marketplace visibility.
- Submitting government ID numbers, Social Security numbers, EINs, financial-account data, or other unnecessary sensitive information in public fields.
8. Account enforcement
You are responsible for account security and activity. FixFolk may investigate reports; remove content; limit features; or restrict, suspend, or close accounts to enforce these Terms, protect users, comply with law, or address risk. FixFolk may preserve limited records when reasonably necessary for fraud prevention, disputes, security, or legal obligations.
9. Service availability and changes
FixFolk is under active development. Features, listings, local coverage, messages, and account access may be interrupted, changed, or discontinued. FixFolk does not promise that jobs will receive bids, users will respond, credentials will be available for checking, or any transaction will be completed.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, FixFolk is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, noninfringement, accuracy, security, availability, or results. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so portions of this section may not apply to you.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, FixFolk and its owners, officers, employees, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages; lost profits, data, goodwill, or opportunities; property damage; personal injury; payment disputes; or acts and omissions of marketplace users arising from or related to the service. To the fullest extent permitted by law, total liability for all claims will not exceed the greater of $100 or the amount you paid directly to FixFolk during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
These limits do not exclude liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including rights that applicable law makes non-waivable. This version does not require binding arbitration or waive access to small claims court.
12. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold FixFolk and its owners, officers, employees, and service providers harmless from third-party claims, losses, and reasonable costs arising from your content, conduct, job agreement, work, payment, property access, violation of law, or violation of these Terms.
13. Disputes and governing law
Before filing a claim, contact [email protected] with a written description and requested resolution so the parties can attempt informal resolution for 30 days. Subject to non-waivable law, these Terms are governed by Kentucky law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any future arbitration or class-action waiver will require an updated, clearly presented Terms version and new affirmative acceptance; it is not silently added by this version.
14. General terms
If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not transfer your account or these Terms without permission. These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and policies expressly incorporated here form the agreement concerning FixFolk.
15. Updates and contact
Material updates will receive a new version and may require renewed acceptance. Questions can be sent to [email protected]. See the Privacy Policy and Trust & Safety page.
